Velocity Basin Photo Walk

Let's get up over 11k' in elevation and see what's happening at that altitude. I was there 7/10 and the wildflowers were still not ready yet. Meet at Pioneer Park in north Durango at 8AM if you want to carpool (address below).

About the Event
Those carpooling from Durango will stop at Whistle Stop Gas Station in Silverton before we head up to Velocity. We should be there around 9 to 9:15 AM. We will head up to Velocity Basin at 9:30.
Velocity Basin is just north of Silverton. It's an easy drive up to the basin. The road is dirt and somewhat bumpy, but no high clearance is required. There are a couple of steep switchbacks but, my Outback will make it there just fine. No hiking involved, but there is a trailhead there and you can summit Tower Mountain if you so desire. We'll explore and shoot wildflowers until around noon or 1pm. There is a beautiful alpine lake and the parking lot is right at the treeline.
Bring snacks, water, sun protection, etc. The elevation is ~11300 so be prepared for any kind of weather.
